Purposeful Travel Summit at Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta | February 7-9, 2023

BANFF, Alta. — The second annual Purposeful Travel Summit presented by Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity will be held from February 7 to 9, 2024. This summit brings together tourism professionals, academics, students and industry for important conversations on future trends in tourism, shifting perspectives on how and why we travel, and how we can be more purposeful in our approach to marketing and attracting visitors.

The format will be a combination of presentations, working group sessions, aesthetic processes and facilitated conversations. Presenters and delegates alike will have the opportunity to share ideas and solutions through intentionally designed interactive engagements.

Featured speakers at the summit will include Dr. Ian Yeoman, futurist and professor of innovation; Alex Bainbridge, founder of Autoura, a Robotaxi and AI tourism platform; and JoAnna Haugen, founder of Rooted Storytelling.

The summit is open to all who are interested in and impacted by travel and tourism, including essential tourism collaborators such as local governments, non-governmental organizations, industry professionals, academics and community members.

“Travel is about much more than the destination. Travel is about seeking transformative experiences. We want to learn about culture, history and the people who make up the places we visit, and when we travel in an intentional and mindful way, we also learn about ourselves. Ideally, we come home prepared to contribute to making the world around us a better place,” says Joe Pavelka, Purposeful Travel Summit programmer.

Registration for the summit will open in September 2023.
