BETHESDA, Md. — Marriott International has issued a statement regarding a number of fraudulent calls that have recently been made around the globe.

The scammers in question are offering those they call complimentary stays at Marriott hotels to entice people to give out personal information such as credit-card numbers.

The statement notes “Marriott International has a long-standing commitment to protecting the privacy of the personal information that is entrusted to us. Marriott has not provided any information to the parties involved in these fraudulent calls.”

The company is urging anyone who receives one of these calls to end the call and report it without giving away any personal information.
