TORONTO — Hospitality-industry veteran Ron Grant passed away on July 31 at the age of 70, while at his cottage near Sudbury, Ont.

Having retired at the end of last year, Grant was the former regional director of Franchise Development, Western Canada with Realstar Hospitality. He spent 25 years with the company, during which he focused on the development of the Days Inn and Motel 6 brands in Western Canada.

Throughout his 50 years in the hospitality industry, Grant developed countless friendships across the country, a testament to his love of people, travel and the hotel business.
