LAS VEGAS — The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is planning to launch another midscale hotel chain to target high-frequency travellers, according to a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report out of Las Vegas where the company is holding its annual conference.
“We don’t have enough cereal brands of different types to be able to accommodate that basic need of staying away from home,” Kirk Kinsell, IHG’s president, told the WSJ, relating hotels to cereal. “That’s why having another [hotel] brand is good,”
An official announcement, with more details, is expected in the first quarter of 2012.
