TORONTO — Days Inns Canada is handing over a cheque for more than $40,000 to Childhood Cancer Canada (CCC), marking the end of its 2012 fundraising campaign.
The cross-Canada fundraiser saw hotels participating in one-week initiatives, where $1 was donated from each guestroom sold. Hotel operators also raised additional funds through the sale of purple paper ribbons throughout July. The funds will benefit CCC’s Survivor Scholarship Program, which awards $1,500 to childhood cancer survivors in any year of post-secondary education.
“Thanks to our hotel owners, staff and guests, we are able to help fund 28 scholarships that will give young Canadian cancer survivors the opportunity to pursue their academic goals,” said Irwin Prince, president and COO, Realstar Hospitality.
