WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. News & World Report has revealed its 2019 list of the Best Hotels in Canada, naming Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim the country’s top hotel. The publication ranked Canada’s top hotel based on an analysis of industry awards, hotel star ratings and user ratings, awarding hotels that scored in the top 10 per cent of the list a “Gold Badge.” In total, 33 Canadian hotels received this recognition.

“This 2020 ranking of the U.S. News Best Hotels marks 10 years of helping travellers find their ideal hotel, no matter the destination, budget or duration,” says Zach Watson, travel editor, U.S. News. “The hotel rankings provide a range of information on all types of accommodations, from tranquil boutique hotels on the beach to luxurious city high-rises with incredible amenities, so consumers can determine what will best fit their vacation.”

The top-ranked hotels on the list include:

  1. Fairmont Pacific Rim, Vancouver 
  2. Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Vancouver
  3. Wickaninnish Inn, Tofino, B.C.
  4. Auberge Sainte-Antoine, Quebec City
  5. Wedgewood Hotel & Spa, Vancouver
  6. Fogo Island Inn, Joe Batt’s Arm, N.L.
  7. Ritz-Carlton Montreal
  8. The Ritz-Carlton Toronto
  9. Four Seasons Hotel Toronto
  10. Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver

In addition to the Best Hotels in Canada ranking, the publication also ranked the country’s top resorts, with Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler, B.C. taking top honours. Four additional Canadian resorts received Gold-Badge status, with Fairmont Chateau Whistler ranking second, followed by Fairmont Banff Springs, Brentwood Bay Resort & Spa and Sonora Resort.
