TORONTO — The Regal Hotel Group Ltd. and SAMM Developments have begun construction on the Regal Plaza Corporate Centre. The $130-million, 35,650-sq.-ft.  mixed-use business complex is an add-on to the existing Holiday Inn hotel near Toronto Pearson Airport.

The new complex will include an 11-storey Staybridge Inn hotel and a commercial centre, with two underground parking levels and an atrium connecting it with the existing hotel. The atrium will resemble an indoor courtyard with seating areas and greenery to accommodate exhibits and business presentations. It will also offer a breakfast area and lounge.

On the ground floor, there will be a café and retail area. The mezzanine and levels two, three and four will encompass a total leasing space of 87,100 sq. ft. of office condos. The 600 to 750-sq.-ft. modules can be combined to create larger spaces. On the penthouse floor, a banquet hall will be available for large events.

Floors five to 11 will house the new Staybridge Inn, featuring 193 long-stay hotel suites, more than half with a kitchenette. Amenities include laundry facilities, an exercise room, an outdoor patio with barbecues, meeting rooms and a swimming pool.
