HALIFAX — The Halifax Tower Hotel & Conference Centre is now open in the city’s Bayer’s Lake region, marking Choice Hotels Canada’s latest addition to its Ascend Hotel Collection.

The Halifax Tower Hotel & Conference Centre is located next door to another Choice property, the Comfort Hotel. Both properties are owned by Stephanie Giannoulis and the new Ascend property will be overseen by the same team of operators.

The new property is suited for both leisure and corporate travel, as well as large group events. Its four meeting spaces can accommodate social gatherings, weddings and corporate meetings, and includes an imperial ballroom for up to 320 people. The 180-seat on site restaurant, Le Rouge, is open for lunch and dinner. There is also an indoor heated pool and hot tub, fitness centre, electric vehicle charging stations and games lounge.

The hotel’s 103 guestrooms and suites include 50-inch smart TVs with Chromecast connections, king beds, kitchenettes and large living spaces. Some deluxe rooms are equipped with fireplaces and two-person whirlpool tubs.

“We’ve long had the desire to expand in our area since we opened our original 73 rooms in 2011,” says Giannoulis. “I am especially proud to see this project completed, as it’s been an evolution of development – from my father’s restaurant, Canadiana, to the Comfort Hotel and now the Halifax Tower Hotel & Conference Centre. We are so excited to begin welcoming guests.”

“Halifax is an important market for us and we were delighted when the Comfort team in Bayer’s Lake wanted to build a new Ascend Collection Hotel property,” says Brian Leon, CEO, Choice Hotels Canada. “Their expertise, knowledge of the local market and attention to detail will undoubtedly ensure the success of this beautiful new addition.”
