PICTON, Ont. — The Merrill House Hotel is offering its new Haunted House package and Haunted Room experience from Oct. 21 to 31.
The Haunted Room is located inside the old servant’s quarters and is home to antique dark-wood furniture, a pitched ceiling and dainty duck-egg accents with a ghostly presence. This summer, the cast of Chucky performed a séance, trying to force encounters there. Additionally, The Marchioness of Lorne, who passed away in 1914 and has a portrait in The Marchioness of Lorne Suite, has been spotted by guests. Child ghosts have also been seen by staff in the room itself.
The Haunted Room package is available as an add-on for all rooms for $75 and includes a spooky welcome cocktail, a haunted tour of the town, an audio tour of the hauntings of Merrill House, a virtual-reality haunted-house experience, a trick-or-treat gift bag and Zimbabwean voodoo dolls, ghosts and legends books and spirit board in the Haunted Room.
