CAPE BRETON ISLAND, N.S. — The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has established the first “IHG Academy” in Canada at Cape Breton University (CBU).
“By partnering with IHG, we’re able to provide students with exceptional work experiences, which enhances the learning environment and further prepares students to be successful in a fast-paced industry,” said John Harker, president, Cape Breton University.
The new IHG Academy at CBU has room for 30 candidates for a program, which offers experience in the IHG family of brands owned by Pacrim Hospitality Services Inc. and Fortis Properties. Participants get hands-on experience at various hotel functions, including the front desk, housekeeping, F&B and more.
IHG plans to expand the mentoring program across the Americas.
