NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. — The Gate House Hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. will receive a million-dollar makeover this winter, reports the Niagara Advance.

The Queen St. property, whose owners say is the original site of the 1797 Law Society of Upper Canada, will be redesigned to reflect a more rustic look. The design is inspired by owner Ilse Dallavalle’s travels in Italy, who wants her guests to experience a “true Italian hospitality experience.” The interior will be sectioned into multiple smaller, cosier spaces and will feature custom-made furnishings from Italy.

The property also houses an Italian restaurant, Ristorante Giardino, which will be closed during the makeover. The renovations are expected to be completed by spring. [niagaraadvance.ca]
