The team at Comfort Hotel Bayer’s Lake

TORONTO — Choice Hotels Canada’s Comfort Hotel Bayer’s Lake has been named 2020 Canadian Hotel of the Year.

The modern east-coast property took top honours in a competition featuring more than 330 hotels in the Choice Hotels Canada family. To qualify for this prestigious award, nominees must have received a 2020 Platinum Guest Satisfaction Award, which recognizes properties in the top three per cent of Choice Canada’s portfolio. This year, there were 11 Platinum-Award winners, with Bayer’s Lake being one of three in Eastern Canada.

“Comfort Hotel Bayer’s Lake is, without a doubt, an industry leader and an inspiring example of hospitality excellence,” says Brian Leon, president, Choice Hotels Canada. “The team is committed to providing a best-in-class experience for their guests and we’re so proud to have such a wonderful property in our system.”

This is not the first time the hotel has received this high honour. It previously won Canadian Hotel of the Year in 2013 and 2015. In addition, it has been recognized multiple times as a Choice Hotels International Ring of Honour Award recipient and has six Platinum Guest Satisfaction Awards, two Gold Guest Satisfaction Awards and five APEX awards. On TripAdvisor, Comfort Hotel Bayer’s Lake has won a Certificate of Excellence for five consecutive years, while also holding the number-1 ranking out of 28 hotels in Halifax, with a five-out-of-five rating as of July 1, 2020.

“To win this prestigious award not once, but twice in five years is just such an unbelievable honour,” says Nimfa Bautista, general manager, Comfort Hotel Bayer’s Lake. “We work incredibly hard to deliver a best-in-class experience for our guests and to have those efforts not just recognized, but celebrated on a national level is incredibly meaningful to us.”
