TORONTO — A study by Hotels.com has revealed that Quebecers tend to steal linens and towels from hotels they visit, while the rest of Canadians take magazines and books.

The study surveyed more than 8,600 respondents across 28 countries and cities and found that 35 per cent of hotel guests admit to pocketing room amenities. And, Danish travellers were exceptionally honest, with 88 per cent saying they’ve never pocketed items from hotels.

While more than a third of global travellers have stolen items from hotels, there are a few perks that guest are willing to pay for, such as a room with a view (29 per cent) and a balcony (17 per cent).

Among other amenities guests identified as important were Wi-Fi, with 34 per cent of leisure travellers and 56 per cent of business travellers saying it was the number-1 factor in choosing a hotel. Home comforts such as high-end coffee makers, complimentary bottled water or time with free food and drinks were also favoured.

Below is a list on the habits of “sticky-fingered travellers.”
