TEL AVIV, Israel — Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced plans to debut the W brand in Israel in 2015 with the opening of W Tel Aviv Jaffa and The Residences at W Tel Aviv Jaffa.

“We’re excited to be working with Starwood on this prestigious project,” said Aby Rosen, co-founder and principal of Manhattan-based RFR Holding, which will own the hotel. “We believe the W brand will further cement Jaffa’s reputation as a unique world-class destination.”

“Tel Aviv is one of the most stylish and cosmopolitan cities on the Mediterranean, and we’re excited to expand our footprint into Israel,” said Roeland Vos, president, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East.

The new property, inside a 19th century heritage building in the revitalized ancient neighbourhood of Jaffa, will feature 125 stylish guestrooms and suites, including one Extreme Wow Suite — W’s version of the presidential suite. Other amenities include a signature restaurant, a destination bar and W Living Room (W’s take on the traditional hotel lobby). The new hotel will also have a state-of-the-art fitness centre and outdoor pool deck.

Designed by acclaimed British architect John Pawson, with Ramy Gill Architects and Urban Designers, the project will feature 38 W-branded Residences at W Tel Aviv Jaffa.

With 44 hotels and retreats open, W is destined to reach more than 60 hotels by the end of 2015.
