GREAT FALLS, Va. — For the last six years, the American Innovation Index (Aii) has ranked the most innovative companies based on customer perceptions from research conducted and compiled by Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, Rockbridge Associates and the Norwegian School of Economics.
This year’s survey placed Airbnb as the most innovative lodging brand. For several years, this brand that has marketed itself as a technology company as much as a lodging brand, has disrupted the industry and captured share from traditional hotel chains. Its business model empowers short-term stayers to access a large inventory of independent properties. The Aii’s research has found that companies that engage in positive innovation are perceived as more attractive and rewarded with greater loyalty from customers.
The list includes:
- Airbnb (26)
- Hyatt (58)
- Hilton (65)
- Vrbo (83)
- Marriott (87)
- IHG (128)
- Choice Hotels (146)
- Best Western (159)
- Wyndham (166)
- Motel 6 (186)
