WELLINGTON, Ont. — Scott Hart is the new general manager of the Drake Devonshire Inn.

Following many years of leading successful award-winning teams in the British Virgin Islands, the Bracebridge, Ont.-native brings a wealth of experience to the hotel, including a sincere dedication to community, expertise in developing and expanding world-class hotel food-and-beverage programs and deep roots in Ontario small towns.

Hart will be working in close collaboration with the Devonshire’s hotel manager Paula Desjardins, executive chef Alexandra Feswick and restaurant manager Jordan Malka.

“Since I moved my family here earlier this year and happily returned to life in Ontario, I have simply fallen in love with Wellington, Prince Edward County and the incredible community here. It’s a thrilling time of growth in the area, particularly from a tourism perspective, and I can’t wait to be a part of it,” says Hart. “I feel lucky to be joining the brilliant team at the Devonshire to help show the world the bounty of the county.”

Hart has been part of multiple highly decorated teams, most recently as the general manager of one of the British Virgin Island’s most iconic luxury destinations, Peter Island Resort and Spa. There, he led the team to international success, including being selected as one of the Top 40 Resorts in the Caribbean by Conde Nast Johansens in 2015 and 2016.

Hart originally moved to the British Virgin Islands from Toronto in 2001, where he met his wife. The pair, who have two children aged four and six, opened the Dove Restaurant in 2003 — a fine-dining restaurant and wine bar in Road Town, which went on to win multiple top restaurant in the Caribbean awards. Hart opened Frenchmans in 2008, a top-rated boutique hotel located on the western tip of Tortola.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Scott as our general manager,” says Jeff Stober, founder and CEO, Drake Hotel Properties. “Drake Devonshire, much like the communities of Wellington and Prince Edward County, has grown substantially since we broke ground and we feel the time is perfect for an internationally experienced hospitality leader with deep Ontario roots such as Scott to take us to the next level.”
