PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has unveiled its new, portfolio-wide mobile tipping for franchisees in Canada and the U.S., making it one of the first major hotel companies to do so. Mobile tipping is the latest initiative in Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ ongoing, multi-year digital transformation.

The platform, developed and managed by Béné, enables guests to easily tip hotel team members digitally via their mobile devices by scanning a QR code that is unique to each team member. The platform accepts multiple forms of payment, including credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Additionally, Wyndham’s global initiative to support International Housekeepers & Environmental Services Week is dedicated to annually recognizing the efforts of housekeepers and custodial staff members during the second week of September with in-person visits, awards and prizes, and Wyndham Rewards points.

“The pandemic dramatically accelerated guest demand for digital-payment solutions, and that trend will only continue in the coming years,” says Scott Strickland, Chief Information Officer of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “The beauty of this solution is its simplicity and at virtually no cost to franchisees to allow their guests to switch from cash to digital. There’s no app to download and no software to install. It’s entirely web-based, which means as long as guests have a phone and an Internet connection, they can tip and show their appreciation.”

“At the heart of every great hotel is a great team of housekeepers,” says Scott LePage, president of Americas, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “This week is about celebrating them and all they do for guests and our industry.”
