westin-ottawa-exteriorOTTAWA — Westin Ottawa staff is celebrating the hotel’s recent five Green Key rating by the Green Key Eco-Rating Program for a commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

“We are thrilled to have achieved the highest rating possible by the Green Key Eco-Rating Program,” said John Jarvis, general manager of the hotel. “The Westin Ottawa embraces our responsibility for environmental stewardship and is committed to integrating leading environmental practices and sustainability principles into all aspects of the hotel. The aim is to raise environmental awareness among our associates, guests and communities” 

The hotel has made a number of green improvements, including a Green Meeting Plan, responsible food planning and purchasing practices and the installation of an automation system to control HVAC.

Originally designed by the Ottawa-based Hotel Association of Canada, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program certifies hotels and resorts based on their commitment to sustainable “green” operations. The program also credits the commitment and efforts of the hotel team, including hotel employees, in executing sustainable initiatives.
