VANCOUVER — Vancouver Firefighter Charities (VFC) has teamed up with Parq Vancouver to create the Parq Vancouver Casino Firefighter Bursary to support people pursuing a career in firefighting.

Beginning this April and continuing every year, Parq will provide the financial support for VFC to award an applicant who exemplifies the high standards and commitment required to be a firefighter with the funds necessary to complete their journey.

Previously, in support of VFC, Parq was an official partner of the 2023 edition of the annual Hall of Flame Calendar, which has raised more than $1 million for an array of B.C. charities, non-profits and community programs since its debut in 1988.

“This is a unique way to spotlight the ‘for Vancouver” movement and we’re so grateful to the whole team at Parq Vancouver for continuing their commitment to support the community at large through this bursary,” says Brandon Davies, VFC director for Mission Funding.

“The VFC has made us aware of the many difficulties and financial sacrifices that applicants are often forced to make when they pursue this career path,” says Jeff Craik, new appointed present of Parq Vancouver. “It’s our sincere hope that this bursary will help bridge any financial gaps that exist and help prospective firefighters better achieve their goal of serving the citizens of our community.”
