VANCOUVER — Fairmont Pacific Rim and Fairmont Waterfront have become two of Canada’s first hotels to receive certification by Sharecare Health Security VERIFIED with Forbes Travel Guide.

Sharecare Health Security VERIFIED with Forbes Travel Guide is a comprehensive facility verification program that helps ensure guests and travel planners can book with confidence at properties that have appropriate health and safety procedures in place. The certification is based on a hotel’s compliance with expert-validated best practices that minimize the risk and impact of COVID-19 and potential future public-health events. Developed by Forbes Travel Guide and digital-health industry leader Sharecare, the comprehensive verification covers more than 360 standards across health and hygiene protocols; cleaning products and procedures; ventilation; physical distancing; the guest experience; and health-and-safety communication with guests and employees. Hotels are required to verify their health protocols on an ongoing basis to ensure continued compliance with the most up-to-date global health standards.

“The health and well-being of our guests and colleagues continues to be a top priority at all of our Fairmont Hotels,” says Alex Thorne, general manager at Fairmont Waterfront. “It’s vital that anyone visiting us feels safe and secure throughout their hotel experience and we know that by achieving verified status through the highly recognized and respected experts at Forbes Travel Guide and their partners at Sharecare, along with Accor’s ALL Safe and Well verification, our guests can take comfort in the assurance that we have stringent COVID-19 protocols in place.”

To date, five Canadian hotels have received Sharecare Health Security VERIFIED status.

“The pandemic has made it clear that hotels and resorts must, first and foremost, assure guests of their safety,” says Filip Boyen, CEO of

. “By becoming VERIFIED, Fairmont Pacific Rim and Fairmont Waterfront have demonstrated their commitment to creating a culture of accountability and following global best practices to heighten health security, certified by a third party.”
