TORONTO — The Drake hotel is celebrating its 20th anniversary in February and is marking the occasion with a series of food, art, music and cultural experiences to last the entire month. The Drake Hotel, Drake Underground, Drake Devonshire Inn and Drake Motor Inn invite guests to join a series of events firmly rooted in their neighbourhoods, bringing locals and travellers together to celebrate hospitality, community and creativity.

The celebrations will kick off with a multi-course dinner of classic Drake dishes, curated and executed by a roster of chef alumni, featuring Anthony Rose, Ted Corrado, Alexandra Feswick, Matt Ravenscroft and more, and will continue through the month with music-filled parties, favourite dishes from past menus, art panels, music talks, a hospitality industry all-star hockey game and post-game party in Prince Edward County (PEC), a WQW Throwback House Party with performances by indie-rock legends, a block of Drake Hotel rooms at discounted rates and a contest to win a hotel stay at any Drake property.

The Drake recently opened its Modern Wing, an expressive expansion with 32 luxurious new guestrooms added to the storied original 19-room property, including a new terrazzo and art-filled lobby, meeting-and-event spaces, an interior courtyard, a two bedroom rooftop suite and a new lobby bar. The expansion has received international recognition, garnering accolades such as Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award and a Toronto Urban Design Award.

“The Drake has a legacy defined by our vision of creating a neighbourhood hub, a hotel where hospitality, arts, culture and community seamlessly intersect. The new Modern Wing at the Drake Hotel and our upcoming expansion at the Drake Devonshire speak to our commitment to continuous re-invention and impeccable design,” says John Granger, CEO. “Our hope is that everyone who comes through one of our properties will accept our invitation to explore their creative curiosities in the neighbourhoods we’re a part of.”

“I’m extremely fortunate to be a part of The Drake since prior to opening our doors in 2004, and it’s been a true honour to have helped create so many outstanding memories for our guests over the past 20 years,” says Bill Simpson, treasurer, Board of Directors for Drake Hotel Properties and founding general manager. “Our unwavering commitment to creating the best possible experiences, while always pushing the envelope creatively, has helped us maintain our unique place in Canada’s hospitality landscape. This is something that we’ve never taken for granted and will always be our motivation as we carve our path over the next 20 years and beyond.”
