In 2011, Marriott introduced four new brands in Europe: The Autograph Collection, Residence Inn, Edition Hotels and AC Hotels by Marriott.

In addition to Europe, the U.K. and Ireland, the Maryland-based hotel company has continued to expand around the world. “At the end of Q3, our lodging portfolio encompasses nearly 3,700 properties worldwide,” McPherson told “As well as focusing on Europe, we’re significantly expanding in Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.”

In fact, plans have just been announced to open a hotel in Bahrain with the launch of JW Marriott Manama, Bahrain Hotel in 2016.
