NEW YORK — Lonely Planet has named Manitoba among the top 10 regions to visit in 2019 in its latest Best in Travel rankings.

Ranked at number-8 on the list, Manitoba is highlighted as multicultural and offering unique nature experiences, including encounters with megafauna, such as bears and whales.

Top regions on the 2019 list were Piedmont, Italy; The Catskills, U.S.; Northern Peru; Australia’s Red Centre; and Scotland’s Highlands and islands.

Each year, the travel-media company ranks destinations — including countries, regions and cities — based on the diversity and quality of travel experiences offered. The Best in Travel 2019 rankings identified Sri Lanka and Copenhagen respectively as the best country and city destinations for the year.
