LONG POINT, Ont. — Long Point Eco-Adventures resort is now even greener, having officially joined EcoStay Certified.
Through the program, the resort will be supporting the EcoStay Motherland Reforestation initiative — a masterpiece eco-tourism project providing a unique parkland of carbon sequestration, wildlife habitat, education and cultural heritage. “Each night a guest stays at Long Point Eco-Adventures, we’ll make a contribution to the project on their behalf,” says Payden Shrubb, Operations manager.
The project aims to restore 55 hectares of Canadian degraded land with a native species forest that will sequester an estimated 120,000 tonnes of carbon over the next 50 years — or the equivalent emissions from 480 billion kilometers of car travel.
As an EcoStay Certified hotel, Long Point Eco-Adventures is also committing to tracking its energy, waste, water, emissions and eco-attributes using a real-time online portal developed by Greenview and investing in energy conservation and waste reduction technologies and practices throughout their hotel.
“We are so proud to be a part of this meaningful industry initiative. It just goes to show that together we really can make a difference,” adds Shrubb.
