TORONTO — Simon Chapman has joined the InterContinental Toronto Yorkville as the hotel’s new general manager.
“On behalf of IHG Canada, I’d like to welcome Simon Chapman to the team. The InterContinental Toronto-Yorkville has recently seen marvelous renovations to its guestrooms and restaurant and through Simon’s guidance and expertise I’m sure the hotel will continue to grow as a marquee property in IHG’s portfolio,” says Jonathan Lund, regional vice-president, Hotel Operations – Canada, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
During his time at the Willard InterContinental, Chapman simultaneously held the role of interim general manager at the InterContinental Times Square in New York City. During this six-month posting, Chapman drove significant total revenue gains and an increase in employee satisfaction.
Chapman is a seasoned hotelier with more than 20 years of global hospitality experience with IHG throughout North America and Europe. Throughout his tenure with IHG, Chapman has held a variety of mid- and senior-management roles at InterContinental properties. Most recently, he served as the hotel manager at the iconic Willard InterContinental Washington D.C. — one of the most historic hotels in America.
“As InterContinental’s first property in Canada, opened in 1990, and ranked among the top luxury hotels in Toronto, I look forward with great anticipation to joining the InterContinental Toronto Yorkville team and building upon the hotel’s superb reputation,” says Chapman.
