SAN FRANCISCO — Hotwire.com, an online travel agency (OTA), has announced the 10 most popular Easter destinations based on hotel stays, and Toronto, Montreal and New York City top the list as the places Canadian wish to stay.

Citing the holiday break as the perfect opportunity for travellers to visit new cities at a low cost, Pierre Etienne-Chartier, VP, Hotwire Group, says high-demand cities have rooms to spare. “Hotels are offering deals — destinations like Toronto, Montreal, Orlando, Chicago and Minneapolis are offering rooms for $80 or less.”

This year Toronto bumped New York from the top spot on Hotwire.com’s list of preferred destinations for Easter travel, with Montreal reclaiming third place and Vancouver placing fourth.

Nightly rates during the Easter period quoted by the U.S.-based OTA, range from a low of $54 in Minneapolis to a high of $201 in New York City. Meanwhile, inexpensive stays can be found in Toronto and Montreal for $80 per night, while overnight accommodations in Vancouver cost $82.
