MCLEAN, Va. — Hilton Hotels has unveiled the “Hilton Urgent Vacation Care Centre,” an online “Vacation Prescription Centre.” It’s also encouraging guests to be diagnosed online and enter to win a vacation.

“We all know quick breaks or long-haul vacations help working professionals feel recharged and refreshed, but too many people are neglecting the time they need to unplug, recharge and relax,” said Andrew Flack, VP, Global Brand Marketing, Hilton Hotels & Resorts.

Working with The Onion, the popular news satire service, Hilton is urging online visitors to “stop vacation-itis before it spreads,” by offering prescriptions for disorders such as yellow post-it fever, acute cancel-itis, cubicle-ophobia and commuter-itis. “The cartoon memes aim to inspire workers to fill their ‘prescriptions’ with a much-needed break from the office,” said Grant Jones, partner, Onion Labs. Users can download the memos and share them with friends.

The Vacation Prescription Centre features an interactive map showing vacation needs, a “recovery room” with special travel offers and more. The brand is offering travellers a savings of 40 per cent on weekend stays completed through Dec. 31, 2013 at participating properties.
