CALGARY —David Spero is the new executive chef at the Calgary Marriott Downtown. In this role, Spero will be responsible for all of the property’s food-and-beverage operations, including catering for the newly expanded meeting space, One18 Empire and the Calgary Telus Convention Centre.

“We’re thrilled that David has joined us,” says Joseph Clohessy, hotel general manager. “We have just completed an extensive, year-long redesign focused on transforming the hotel into an innovative, relevant destination. Having Chef Spero lead our food-and-beverage department is an exciting opportunity for our hotel and our valued guests.”

Spero has held key roles in the culinary and hospitality industries, working with award-winning establishments such as The Peaks Resort and Spa, Telluride, Colo.; The Grand Wailea Resort and Spa, Maui, Hawaii; The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, Fla.; and Portofino Bay Hotel, Orlando, Fla..  Most recently, he was executive sous chef at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Fla.
