TORONTO — Paul Verciglio of the Park Hyatt Toronto has been awarded 2011 General Manager of the year for Hyatt Hotels North America.

Verciglio began his career as a bus person 50 years ago and has since solidified his experience with 13 postings across North America before opening the Park Hyatt Toronto in Yorkville in 1999. He was responsible for building the Stillwater Spa an award-winning retreat, which he opened in 2002. He also  launched an off-site Kosher Catering business last year which exceeded $1-million in sales.

The “General Manager of the Year” Award for medium hotels is presented to the General Manager who performed exceptionally well in the financial, guest and associate categories. Candidates are selected from 370 Hyatt Hotels across North America and nine brands in the company’s portfolio.
Verciglio was awarded “Hotelier of The Year 2011” by Kostuch Media at last year’s Pinnacle Awards.
