TYSONS CORNER, Va. — Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Inc. has appointed Matthew Sparks as the new VP and CIO of Park Hotels & Resorts — the planned real-estate investment trust that will be separated from Hilton by the end of 2016.

In his new role, Sparks oversees investments and acquisition strategies for the brand and reports to Thomas J. Baltimore, Jr., president and CEO of Parks Hotels & Resorts.

“Matt is a great addition to the Park leadership team and I am confident that his extensive acquisition and development experience will prove invaluable to our long-term success,” says Baltimore, Jr.

Sparks has been with Hilton for five years as SVP of Luxury & Corporate Development, where he managed the company’s full-service, corporate-luxury and lifestyle-brand growth and development in North America. Sparks led the team that completed the sale of the Waldorf Astoria New York to Anbang Insurance Group Co. Ltd. in 2015.

Prior to Hilton, Sparks was SVP of Acquisitions at Sage Hospitality Resources and has held similar roles at Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, Wyndham Worldwide and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
