MONTREAL — The Moxy Montreal Downtown, the province’s first Moxy hotel, will open this April. Operated by local hotel management company RIMAP Hospitality Services, this hotel brings new energy to Montreal’s downtown core. Situated on rue Saint-Jacques, just steps from Old Montreal, Griffin Town, the Bell Centre, and streets such as Sainte-Catherine and Nôtre-Dame, the hotel will feature 216 smartly designed guestrooms, a variety of flexible co-working spaces, a fitness centre with an indoor pool, a lively restaurant-bar and lounge area.
“We’re proud to open the first Moxy Hotel in Quebec, a hotel that breaks the mold with its playful spirit, bold design and energetic atmosphere,” says Samir Mansoori, Moxy Montreal Downtown’s general manager. “From stylish, smart rooms to lively common spaces, every detail is designed to surprise and delight. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that reflects Montreal’s energy and culture.”
Developed under the guidance of Montreal-based architecture firm Le Groupe Architex, along with the design expertise of Canadian studios Design Agency and Hager Design International, the hotel blends the brand’s industrial-chic aesthetic with features that reflect the spirit of Montreal. Design Agency captured Moxy’s original spirit of fun, originality, and comfort through its communal spaces, while Hager Design International developed the smartly designed guestroom’s philosophy. Chevalier Morales contributed to the overall architectural vision, ensuring the hotel’s design complemented the city’s vibrant identity. Bold styling shines through eclectic furnishings and Montreal-inspired artwork, including subway wagon frescoes on each room’s floor designed by Montreal women-led company Design is Yummy, as well as images of iconic landmarks from across the city like the metro, the Ferris wheel, and more. Unexpected decor elements, such as the massive ceiling-suspended mirrors installation in the lobby and a striking spiral staircase, are also present, making the hotel a reflection of Montreal’s creative and unconventional spirit.
