MONTREAL — Artifact Group has announced two key leadership appointments as it positions itself for ambitious growth across Canada and the United States. Bernard Chênevert joins the company as vice-president of Operations and Louis Barruel transitions to vice-president of Asset Management/Investments. These strategic moves underscore Artifact Group’s commitment to excellence and mark an exciting chapter in the company’s young and dynamic future.

“Bernard and Louis represent the caliber of leadership that will propel Artifact Group forward,” says Gaurav Gupta, president of Artifact Group. “Bernard’s operational expertise and Louis’s strategic acumen are a powerful combination as we pursue our goal of doubling our portfolio in the next three years.”

Bernard Chênevert, a celebrated figure in the Canadian hospitality landscape, brings an exceptional legacy of leadership to his new role. Renowned for his tenure as general manager of the InterContinental Montreal, Chênevert led a transformative re-positioning of the property in 2008, earning him the General Manager of the Year award in 2011 within the InterContinental Hotel Chain (Americas division). His career also includes senior roles at prestigious properties such as W Montréal (Starwood), Le Westin Resort & Spa Tremblant (Intrawest), and Hôtel du Lac Carling (Small Luxury Hotels of the World). His broader impact includes serving as Chairman of the Hotel Association of Greater Montreal (AHGM) from 2013 to 2018 and vice-president of Tourisme Montréal, where he championed the region’s hospitality and tourism sectors. Currently, as general manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Montreal, he continues to exemplify operational excellence.

“I am thrilled to join Artifact Group and lead our operations during this transformative period,” says Chênevert. “Together with Louis and the talented team, I am eager to build on our momentum and redefine hospitality excellence.”

Louis Barruel steps into the role of vice-president of Asset Management/Investments, where he will guide Artifact Group’s strategic expansion through new deals and investment opportunities across Canada and the U.S. With his deep expertise and keen eye for value, Barruel will oversee the company’s asset portfolio and spearhead acquisitions to fuel its growth ambitions. This transition recognizes his invaluable contributions to date and positions him to shape the company’s financial and strategic success in this next phase.

“This new role is an exciting opportunity to drive Artifact Group’s growth through strategic acquisitions and asset optimization,” says Barruel. “I look forward to collaborating with Bernard and the entire team to achieve our vision and deliver value.”
