PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. — Wyndham Hotel Group will develop 25 Wingate by Wyndham hotels over the next 25 years and 15 Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham hotels over the next 15 years in Canada.

Some of the hotels, developed in partnership with PHI Hotel Group, are expected to be operational by 2017. Markets will include Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa and Halifax.

“These agreements demonstrate our steadfast commitment to continued growth in Canada,” says Chip Ohlsson, Wyndham Hotel Group’s chief development officer. “We’re targeting Canada’s leading cities — where travellers really want to be — with two incredible brands that guests embrace for their convenience, quality and experience.”

Only six per cent of Wyndham Hotel Group’s hotels are in Canada. However, it currently has 46 hotels in the construction pipeline, with over 4,000 rooms. Soon, it will surpass 550 hotels in Canada with brand names which include Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada, Super 8 and Travelodge.
