HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — The U.S. hotel industry reported lower performance from the month prior and weakened comparisons with 2019, according to November 2022 data from STR.

November 2022 (percentage change from November 2019):

  • Occupancy: 59.4 per cent (down 3.2 per cent)
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR): US$144.46 (up 15.2 per cent)
  • Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR): US$85.74 (up 11.4 per cent)

Among the top 25 U.S. markets, New York City experienced the highest occupancy level (79 per cent), which was down 8.8 per cent from the market’s 2019 benchmark.  

Markets with the lowest occupancy for the month included Minneapolis (51.2 per cent) and St. Louis (52.2 per cent). San Francisco reported the steepest decline in occupancy when compared with 2019 (down 21.8 per cent).

Reflecting continued improvement in business travel and groups, the top 25 markets showed higher occupancy and ADR than all other markets.
