TORONTO — Tripadvisor has launched its new predictive tool named TrendCast. This tool provides insights into future travel trends by leveraging user data and advanced machine learning.
TrendCast is part of Tripadvisor’s broader strategy to support tourism businesses by offering them valuable insights into consumer behaviour. By analyzing millions of data points from its global platform, TripAdvisor can accurately predict upcoming travel trends. This information will allow businesses to anticipate customer needs better and adapt their services accordingly.
The first edition of the TrendCast report shows that travellers increasingly prioritize safety and cleanliness in their choice of accommodation. This trend is likely driven by ongoing concerns related to the pandemic.
Another finding from the report is the growing preference among travellers for outdoor and nature-based experiences. According to TripAdvisor’s data, interest in activities such as hiking, camping and other outdoor adventures has significantly increased. This trend reflects a broader shift towards more sustainable and eco-friendly travel practices.
Additionally, the report provides detailed insights into other aspects of travel behaviour, including preferences for different types of accommodation, popular destinations for different traveller demographics and emerging trends in food tourism.
“The Tripadvisor TrendCast isn’t your typical yearly trends report – it’s a glimpse into the future of travel and the consumer behaviours that we believe will shape our industry in the years ahead. Exploring first-hand insights from millions of travellers across the globe has revealed interesting trends and massive cultural swings shaping travel,” says Hilary Fischer-Groban, head of Research & Insights, Tripadvisor. “Diving into the emerging trends and cultural shifts through our first-party data, the Tripadvisor TrendCast serves as a roadmap for travellers and industry leaders alike, inspiring the journeys of tomorrow.”
