OTTAWA — Tourism HR Canada has launched Propel, a new federally funded student work-placement program.

The new program will offer paid work integrated learning opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sector and hopes to thrust post-secondary students into the industry by giving them opportunities with hospitality-sector employers.

It also rewards employers for giving the students a chance. Employers who hire students through this initiative receive a wage subsidy of 75 per cent of the student’s wages, up to a maximum of $7,500.

All qualifying parties — from small, independent operations to large, multi-property companies — can apply at PropelCareers.ca
