CALGARY — Westin Calgary’s 1960s fine-dining restaurant, The Owl’s Nest, is re-inventing itself with a outdoor pop-up called Owl Patio & Bar.

Curated by chef Michael Batke, the menu offers classic lounge fare, including appetizers, flatbread pizzas and handhelds. Locals and travellers can enjoy a signature cocktail or local craft beers, ciders, fine wines, and Owl’s very own Owl Bar Lager by Railyard Brewing.

The Westin Calgary has an iconic past. The Classic Caesar Cocktail, now a staple of Canadian life, was created by bartender Walter Chell in 1969 at the Calgary Inn (now The Westin Calgary). Chell spent months creating the drink, drawing inspiration from the classic pasta dish, Spaghetti Vongole.

The acclaimed Owls Nest restaurant was the quintessential experience in fine dining, famed for its delectable food and gracious service under the supervision of chef Fred Zimmerman. It is still remembered for its post-dinner cigars and roses handed to ladies.

Guests are invited to visit the pop-up Owl Patio & Bar Tuesday to Saturday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Owl Patio & Bar will continue to prioritize the health and safety of its guests and associates to ensure a safe and stress-free dining experience.  As part of Marriott International’s family of brands, it has implemented a multi-pronged approach to meet the health-and-safety requirements of its “Commitment to Clean” standards and the measures as advised by health and government experts.
