TORONTO — A major Canadian city may soon receive a mini version of Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim, Greg Doman, SVP of Residential Development at FRHI Hotels & Resorts, told The Globe and Mail.

The Fairmont Pacific Rim commands attention as a well-regarded hotel and residence. “Here in Canada we are in a bit of catch-up mode; if you go overseas we’ve been at the forefront of bringing this mixed-use [hotel and residential] development to those markets,” Doman said in an interview with Tara Perkin of The Globe and Mail.

The new property will assume the Fairmont brand’s new look. “There’s still this association with all the historical iconic assets, and they’re great, but it’s also important to show what the new contemporary Fairmont is, and I think Pacific Rim does that,” Doman told Perkin.

The new project is expected to be announced sometime this year. [theglobeandmail.com]
