TORONTO — Steve Gupta, founder of the Easton’s Group of Companies has been conferred with a Doctor of Laws degree from Ryerson University. The ceremony took place on June 12 at Toronto’s Ryerson University. Gupta, who owns 15 branded hotels, primarily in Ontario, has built a successful company from the ground up by focusing on strong locations, quality interiors and relationships with well known brands such as Starwood, Hilton and Marriott. More recently, Gupta has also become involved in condo development with the 47-storey Dundas Square Gardens, which earned him recognition of Top High Rise Builder in the Greater Toronto Area by RealNet Market report in 2014. Just a few months ago, Gupta also bought a parcel of land at York Mills Rd. and Yonge St. in Toronto, which will be developed into office/retail space as well as a hotel.

Gupta will also be honoured later this month with the 2015 Transformation Award for Innovation in Business by Diversity Magazine.

Over the past decade, Gupta has become a leader in the hotel industry, earning several industry awards, including Hotelier’s Pinnacle Award for Regional Company of the Year.
