CALGARY — Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Aloft Calgary University. Owned by University Hotels Ltd., this is the first Aloft brand hotel in Western Canada.

“We are thrilled Aloft has arrived in Western Canada. Calgary is a vibrant city for both students and travelling professionals,” said Brian McGuinness, SVP, Specialty Select Brands for Starwood. “This is the first conversion project for Aloft in the Canadian market, which is a significant step for the brand. Conversions are becoming an increasingly important growth channel for Aloft and will help to fuel growth in markets like Canada.”

The 143-room hotel features 4,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, an indoor splash pool, a day spa, a spin studio as well as a specialty restaurant and bar. Guestrooms feature walk-in showers, charging stations and free Wi-Fi. The hotel is within walking distance of the LRT line with direct access to downtown Calgary.

Aloft has 100 hotels and will soon be in 14 countries worldwide.
