VANCOUVER, B.C. – SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Calvert to the newly created position of Vice President, Design and Construction.

“Scott brings to SilverBirch a wealth of experience gained over 30 years in construction and engineering, and is a wonderful addition to our executive team,” said Steve Giblin, President and CEO of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts. “As an integral part of the Real Estate Group, Scott will take over the full management of the Design and Construction Group for SilverBirch, where he will play a key role in executing our growth strategy.”

Prior to joining SilverBirch, Mr. Calvert oversaw the project management group at Colony Management, a steel construction firm, and prior to that that he ran his own independent project management and development consulting practice. From 2003 through 2010, Scott served as the Senior Vice President for Property Development at Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Inc., where he created a highly skilled development and construction team to manage the rapid expansion efforts for Gateway in British Columbia and Alberta. He has also served in numerous executive and management roles with construction companies and engineering firms based in BC, developing various commercial buildings including hotels, high-rise residential towers, office buildings, warehouse facilities and other commercial real estate.

Mr. Calvert completed his formal education in Canada, attaining a Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Alberta and a diploma from Simon Fraser University in Executive Management Development.
