MATANE, Que. — The Canada Economic Development  (CED) for Quebec Regions has granted a repayable contribution of $155,400 to the Riôtel Hospitality Group (RHG) to aid in the completion of renovations at one of its subsidiaries, Riôtel Matane — a four-star hotel complex located along the renowned Gaspé Tour tourism circuit.

The funding was recently announced by Rémi Massé, Member of Parliament for Avignon–La Mitis–Matane–Matapédia and Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. The assistance will allow the RHG to finish renovating the hotel’s guestrooms — a project expected to cost more than $300,000.

“This financial support will allow us to give our rooms a more contemporary character that combines comfort and distinction,” says Francois Rioux, president of RHG. “We are pleased to be able to offer a four-star seaside experience that pays tribute to the beauty of the site and the region.”

The Riôtel Matane hotel features seven modern meeting rooms, a restaurant, two swimming pools — one indoor and one outdoor — and a health centre. In addition to the Riôtel Matane, RHG also owns two other properties in the Gaspé area.

“The aim of CED’s funding for the Riôtel Matane hotel is to foster tourism growth in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie regions, both of which are known for their incomparable attractions,” says Massé. “Through this support, the Government of Canada is reaffirming its commitment to promote tourism as a vehicle for growth and economic diversification in our regions.”
