QUEBEC CITY — Despite difficult weather conditions, Quebec City’s fabled ice hotel, Hôtel de Glace, opened with a new look for the 2016 season.

According to artistic director Pierre l’Heureux, the 16th edition of Hôtel de Glace is inspired by imaginary rivers through a world of ice and snow. Features include an ice bar, sugar shack, arctic spa and sauna, pavilion, café and chapel.

“Things are looking good,” Jacques Desbois, CEO, said last month. “Overnight stays are up, we have close to 20 confirmed bookings for weddings, our website traffic is constantly growing and foreign media coverage is also steadily on the rise. We’re excited about picking up where we left off with an all-new sensorial experience that promises to be fun, unique and enriching.”

Hôtel de Glace is located at 9530 rue de la Faune and will be open until March 28.
