KANANASKIS, Alta. — During the next two years, Pomeroy Lodging LP will invest about $26 million to transform the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis into a leading four-star conference and destination resort. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2017. “We are confident the repositioned facility will drive tourism to the region and increase Alberta’s competitive stock of large conference facilities,” said president Ryan Pomeroy.

The renovation is expected to increase the current employee base from 260 to more than 300 and on-site employee accommodation facilities will be upgraded.

The landmark resort was built in 1986 by Canadian Pacific Hotels for the 1988 Olympics with alpine events held at Nakiska Ski Area. It later hosted the 28th G8 Summit in June 2002. Renovations will include upgrades to the 36,000 sq. ft. of conference and event spaces, the spa amenities and all 412 guestrooms. The six existing food and beverage locations will be renovated, restyled and rebranded. Enhanced and modernized family amenities (i.e. children’s splash pad, indoor waterslides, improved children’s centre and facilities) will complement the existing array of facilities in Kananaskis and draw incremental leisure travellers to the region.
