VANCOUVER — There’s been a host of changes to the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourfront Hotel. The hotel has recently been rebranded as The Pinnacle Hotel Vancouver Harbourfront, becoming the latest hotel to be moved under the new Vancouver-based Pinnacle Hotels & Restaurants brand.

Though the 442-room property had been purchased by Pinnacle International back in 2007, it continued to operate the property under the Renaissance brand. The decision to move away from Renaissance was made in the interest of investing in and expanding the Pinnacle hotel brand, a desire to have hands-on control of the services offered to guests, as well as the ability to jointly market the hotel with two of the company’s other properties: North Vancouver’s 105-room Pinnacle Hotel at The Pier, and the Pinnacle Hotel Whistler Village with 84 suites. The Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel is also part of Pinnacle International’s hotel portfolio, but it will continue to be operated and marketed as a Marriott property.

“With nearly 20 years of experience in owning and managing hotels in British Columbia,” said Mike Erickson, Asset Manager with Pinnacle International’s Hospitality division, “we decided that we really wanted to give our guests a sense of place when they stay with us, a local touch, and empower our professional staff to personalize the service they give. The best way to do this was under our own brand with a hands-on approach.”

To oversee the development and marketing of the new brand, Pinnacle has hired Kyle Matheson as director of hospitality marketing to develop the Pinnacle Hotels & Restaurants brand and then working on programs and resources that bring the three hotel properties and the company’s restaurants together.

“The new Pinnacle sign on the outside of the hotel is the most obvious indication of the change,” said Matheson. “But it’s really just the tip of the iceberg.”

For the past six months, the hotel team has gone through transitioning its reservations and inventory systems, new logos on staff uniforms and guest items throughout the hotel.
