Lake at Banff National Park

BANFF, Alta. —The Banff Winter Hiring Fair is being held tomorrow at the Cascade Shops in Banff, Alta. from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This free event, hosted by the Job Resource Centre, will have more than 200 seasonal, year-round and career positions available.

The Banff Winter Hiring Fair includes many of the region’s best-known employers, including Lake Louise Ski Resort, Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village, Nakiska Ski Resort, Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and Chateau Lake Louise, Pursuit, Banff Centre. Employers will be looking for ski instructors, lift attendants, kitchen staff, shuttle-bus drivers, guest-service agents and more. In 2019, the event attracted more than 600 job seekers, many of them young people from across Canada and as far away as Australia and Germany.

“This fall, we hope to see a return of job seekers wanting to work and play in the area for the upcoming winter season,” Michel Dufresne, director of the Job Resource Centre told The Bow Valley Crag & Canyon. “This year has been the most challenging for Bow Valley employers. We’ve always had difficult seasons to get through with various degrees of staff shortage but 2022 has felt more like a staff drought. We lost almost an entire generation of workers during the pandemic, specifically, all the people who were due to retire and those who were near ready to retire. It’s a large demographic. This was predicted 20 years ago and it just coincided with the pandemic.”
