BETHESDA, Md. — Marriott International, Inc. has announced the appointment of Jim Scholefield as Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO) effective February 24. 

In his new role, Scholefield will be responsible for leading all aspects of the company’s information technology and digital strategies and will report to Stephanie Linnartz, group president, Consumer Operations, Technology & Emerging Businesses.

“Jim will play a pivotal role in driving our technology-modernization efforts as we embark on a new chapter in the company’s technology journey to support our future growth, both within our core lodging business and new ventures,” says Linnartz. “Jim brings incredible experience to Marriott, having led technology transformations at major global corporations for more than 30 years.”

Prior to this appointment, Scholefield served as CIDO at Merck & Co. and Chief Information Officer at Nike. He also spent five years as the CIO of The Coca-Cola Company. 

In September 2019, Marriott’s Chief Information Officer, Bruce Hoffmeister, announced his decision to retire after 30 years with the company. Hoffmeister is staying with the company through mid-2020 to help with the transition.
