NEW YORK, N.Y. — Bethesda, Md.-based Marriott International, Inc. was named to the Forbes “World’s Most Innovative Companies” list, the highest-ranking hotel company and number 18 overall.

Chosen by investors, the list of 100 firms represents companies that are most likely to generate big, new growth ideas; Marriott was recognized for its Innovation Lab, mobile check-in and -out, and its new Greatroom Lobby featured in its Marriott Hotels brand.

“We are honoured to be among the world’s most innovative companies,” said Stephanie Linnartz, EVP and chief marketing and commercial officer, Marriott International. “We are designing hotels for a new generation, [which] is used to working, staying and playing how and where they want. Our Innovation Lab is helping us create solutions that elevate, innovate and evolve our guest experience.”
Just one other hotel company made the cut. Stamford, Conn.-based Starwood Hotels and Resorts was ranked 66th overall.
