BETHESDA, Md. — Marriott International has expanded its Canadian development team with the appointment of Paul Loehr as regional vice-president, Canada Development.

In this newly created role, Loehr will lead Marriott’s new-unit growth across Canada through long-term management contracts and franchise agreements for all Marriott brands. Manlio Marescotti, vice-president, Lodging Development for Eastern Canada, and Ryan McRae, vice-president, Lodging Development for Western Canada, will both report to Loehr.

“Canada continues to be a strong market for Marriott with increasing guest and owner preference for our brands driving significant opportunity to grow both our full- and select-service portfolios,” says Loehr. “Our ability to deliver exceptional results for owners — thanks to our expanded portfolio of brands, industry-leading sales, distribution and loyalty platforms and economies of scale — give us a clear competitive advantage.”

Loehr, who began his Marriott career more than 25 years ago in Marriott’s golf division, has held numerous positions in the company supporting hotel and timeshare development, as well as resort operations. For the past decade, Loehr has focused on expanding Marriott’s full-service hotel portfolio throughout the U.S. as part of the eastern and western full-service-development teams.
