ATLANTA — The extended-stay market just got another boost with news that the Atlanta-based InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Maplewood Hotels & Resorts have announced plans to develop 15 new-build Candlewood Suites’ properties across Canada.

Maplewood is a joint venture between Florida’s Driftwood Hospitality Management and Bedford, N.S.’s Pacrim Hospitality Services Inc., and the partnership is offering new areas for growth. “We believe the extended-stay business model is largely under-represented in Canada, and our agreement with IHG presents a significant opportunity to introduce extended-stay properties across the country,” stated Glenn Squires, CEO of Pacrim.

IHG’s Candlewood Suites brand offers extended-stay guests the feeling of being at home with suite amenities such as a kitchen, executive desk, recliner, sofa bed as well as free high-speed Internet access.
